Thanks for this Sarah. Super helpful and perfectly timed as I contemplate an overly long list of exciting possibilities for collaboration, including a few things in my inbox asking me to commit. I'd been focusing on criteria (which did at least include how much fun something might be), and have a very helpful table of prospects and priorities, but your emphasis on how the prospect of getting involved in something makes me feel in my body is a very welcome addition.
Thanks for sharing, Alan. Yes, our bodies are very wise and usually know what we have capacity for! I'm glad your criteria included FUN though :) Good luck with making the decisions and I'd love to hear if this way of deciding gives you a different result...
As well as revising my priorities to 1 (Make it happen), 2 (Actively explore), 3 (Keep on backburner), and 4 (Drop, for now at least), I've now tweaked the criteria that inform my prioritization of potential collaborations to cover:
Fun - people, issues, approach?
Clear purpose?
Generating learning?
Leading to impact?
How does it feel?
That feels like it will give me what I need and has led to me demoting a few things from 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 4, which is helpful and leaves me feeling more whelmed :-)
Thanks Sarah! Excited to follow along with your carouseling 🦩
