Do you know what, I STILL tense up and panic when people ask what I do. Not having a clear answer or a loooong answer (LOLLING at the 'presentation') throws me every time. After 20 years of multi-passionating! These tips have actually really helped - tell them about what I'm focused on right now. That sounds MUCH easier to do xxx
I'm so pleased they've helped! I think the 'what I am currently doing' is a way of saying 'of course, this is not the WHOLE of who I am, but this is what feels alive today!' I also find the more I share with people proudly that I wear many hats (rather than apologising for it) the more it gives permission for others to live a more varied life too. The idea of specialisation is also relatively recent - we are diverse, multi-passionate creatures at heart!
YES! I really love it. Rather than asking people 'what do you do?' as if it is a fixed thing, we should be asking 'what are you working on at the moment?' or 'what project are you playing on at the moment?' 😉
Loved this, Sarah. Esp the offering up two things and getting the other person to pick!
Yeah, that's a great one! Glad you enjoyed :) x

Yes! Sometimes I even just ask 'what have you been doing this morning / this afternoon?' - it can reveal so much!
